Multiplication On A Number Line
Multiplying on a Number Line
This is a complete lesson for third class with teaching and exercises about multiplying on a number line. Students write multiplications that match the repeated jumps on a number line. They utilise skips of three and skips of 4 on the number line to help them multiply by three and by 4. Students as well depict the number line jumps to match given multiplications.

ane. Write the multiplication judgement that the jumps on the number line illustrate.
` a. _____ × ______ = ________ |
b. _____ × ______ = ________ |
c. _____ × ______ = ________ |
d. _____ × ______ = ________ |
2. Draw more "skips" of three.
3. Multiply times 3. Use the skips higher up to help.
a. v × 3 = ______ 4 × 3 = ______ | b. 8 × 3 = ______ 7 × 3 = ______ | c. vi × iii = ______ iii × iii = ______ | d. two × 3 = ______ ix × 3 = ______ |
4. How many skips of iii are needed? Apply the number line to a higher place to help.
a. _____ × iii = 24 _____ × iii = 9 | b. _____ × 3 = 18 _____ × 3 = 15 | c. _____ × iii = 21 _____ × 3 = 12 | d. _____ × three = 6 _____ × iii = three |
5. Depict more than "skips" of four.
half dozen. Multiply times 4. Utilize the skips above to help.
a. 2 × 4 = ______ iv × iv = ______ | b. 6 × iv = ______ 7 × four = ______ | c. viii × 4 = ______ 3 × 4 = ______ | d. v × 4 = ______ ane × 4 = ______ |
seven. How many skips of four are needed? Utilise the number line in a higher place to help.
a. _____ × four = 24 _____ × 4 = eight | b. _____ × 4 = 0 _____ × 4 = 12 | c. _____ × four = 16 _____ × iv = 8 | d. _____ × 4 = xx _____ × 4 = 4 |
8. Proceed and depict jumps to fit the multiplication problem.
a. 6 × four = ________ |
b. v × v = ________ |
c. 6 × 5 = ________ |
d. 7 × 4 = ________ |
east. 3 × 10 = ________ |
9. Add together repeatedly (or skip-count) to multiply. You lot tin apply the number line to assist.
a. 3 × ii = ______ 6 × 3 = ______ iv × 5 = ______ | b. 5 × ii = ______ 7 × 4 = ______ 3 × 8 = ______ | c. 5 × 6 = ______ three × nine = ______ 4 × x = ______ | d. 3 × 10 = ______ 2 × 11 = ______ 3 × seven = ______ |
