The claim: New permitless deport law lets Texans buy a gun without a groundwork check

The new law doesn't affect firearm buy and ownership laws in Texas. Merely Texans tin can, and frequently practise, buy guns without background checks.

Permitless carry police force doesn't affect prior gun purchase regulations, only handgun carry

Contrary to the Facebook post, the permitless carry police force, HB1927, passed by the Legislature and signed by Abbott, has no upshot on purchase and buying regulations.

"HB1927 did not change any of the requirements that are federally mandated," Ericka Miller, press secretary for the Texas Department of Public Prophylactic, wrote in an email. "You must even so become through the groundwork check ... or present a valid License to Acquit to buy a weapon."
